This image shows a TV dashboard for the home automation system I built, which provides a simple overview of the overall status of the home. The automation platform was built using Home Assistant, Chromecast, various sensors (motion, door/window, smoke, water, temperature, humidity, light), air quality data from a Raspberry Pi (via an MQTT broker), energy usage data (via smart plugs), Hue lights, IP cameras, location data (via smartphones), and more.
Not shown in the image are some of the automations that utilize this data: "theatre mode" to dim lights in the living room when watching TV at night, washer/dryer cycle complete push notifications, a water/smoke alarm with siren and push notifications, motion activated lights, motion activated bathroom fan, home alarm with various occupancy modes and geofence-based auto-arm/disarm, custom thermostat program with occupancy modes and geofencing, and a COVID-19 "quarantine status" based on home/away geofences.
